All everyday needs for shopping, gas station, excellent elementary and high schools, hospital and excellent GP doctor (South African) - being from the UK we take a free health service as being the normal state of affairs and one of the advantages of actually settling in Canada is that on being given a health number the services are free and very good - building supplies, post office, bank, town hall, bakery. There are several (some seasonal) cottage industry shops in the vicinity selling locally produced honey, candles, and crafts and fresh chickens, beef and bison. The local fishing is also very good and the fly fishing is becoming a tourist attraction.

RUSSELL - 46 kms (29 miles) to the North West

Good for most items - including an excellent dentist, banking, cinema, building supplies.

BRANDON - 135kms (84 miles) 1.5 hours drive - to the South

Popn 30,000 - but shopping facilities to include major stores, restaurants & cinema as caters for a total surrounding population of approx 250,000

WINNIPEG - 300kms (187 miles) 3 hours drive - to the South East

Popn 800,000 - capital of Manitoba with international airport. Main international gateway to Manitoba.
